a beautiful giveaway
Yesterday I was all over the place with my facebook comments. I remember writing "Selena is feeling so emotional today" because I just felt so alive after two days of being connected with all of you. Not only that but I truly felt the inner beauty that we were talking about. Later in the day I wrote "Selena is feeling grateful for all of her friends" which was also true. I just wanted to give you all a cyber hug or maybe a holographic one. Did anyone catch that strange holographic thing on CNN? It was so Star Wars like. So yes it was an incredibly emotional day on many levels.
I wanted to say thank you by offering a giveaway from one of my favorite jewelers in the world, Amy McClure who is the owner of the beautiful Olaria Studio. I am not one who normally buys a lot of jewelery. I used to like 1928 a bit and would pick up a few pieces at yard sales but overall I just don't wear a lot. When I went to the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco last July I typically walked past all the jewelry and instead visited the booths that focused on paper and fabric. Until I spotted Amy's booth that is and I saw pottery mixed in with jewelry to create the most lovely jewelry ever. It's like mixing chocolate and peanut butter, it's the perfect combination. Of course I wanted everything but being the frugal person that I am I had to buy something that wouldn't cause after guilt and something that I would treasure always. I found my necklace and started a conversation with Amy. She kindly offered this necklace for the giveaway.
Amy makes everything by hand. She named her studio after the Portuguese word Pottery after spending some time in Brazil after college. I've never received so many compliments on jewelry as I have wearing this piece. I adore everything and am tempted to tell dh just to buy all my Christmas presents at Olaria Studio this year. If you would like to have your name in the giveaway for this gorgeous necklace, sweetly named Karina Clover, please leave a comment.
**I forgot to add that I'll draw a name a week from now on November 12th.

I, too, have been feeling the high from the past few days and your posts and the resulting comments. So funny how a blog can connect people. Corny as it sounds, there is a lot of love out there. Yesterday, I was just smiling from ear to ear. Ok, maybe it had a little to do with this major election we just had, but I know that it also had a lot to do with this blog.
Selena, when you come back or pass through San Francisco please let me know. I would love to show you some of my favorite thrift stores in Sonoma and San Francisco. I could use some guidance from you in those stores!
Here I thought I was the only one who secretly wrote down clothing labels at Anthropologie.
Beautiful necklace, there is nothing better than handmade!
Ps- I am on facebook too!

Although I'm sure I'd fall in love with such a gorgeous piece, if I win I will give it to my friend S. who loves those colors together and could use some pretty in her life right now.

So lovely. I've been thinking about how rare it is that we crafters share such emotional feelings with other people....and it's felt really nice to live vicariously through you in doing that. So thanks!
And Amanda - if you live in SF, we need to go bra shopping together. Just saying.

When you said you were emotional, I thought you were sad. Why didn't it occur to me that it could be the opposite?
It's a gorgeous necklace and a beautiful color.

Oh how very, very lovely!!! This has been an emotional couple of days for everyone, across the nation. I was explaining to my husband that is a rare moment in history when we, across the nation and across the globe are so very focused on one event and the amazing energy that is flowing across the country is electric.
Being connected is always an amazing thing, and that's why I love blogging too!
Happy day to you...

Wow, that necklace is awesome! I typically walk past all the jewelery too, it just seems like SO MUCH BEADS! Sea of beads. But this is really beautiful!

It's funny, I've felt out of sorts for a couple of days, weirdly so. The kind of "off" where I go to Fred Meyer without my purse, put the orange juice away in the cupboard, wear the same outfit for four days, drive with the parking brake on and slather a peanut butter sandwich with mayonnaise (even the dogs didn't want that one.) Since I feel so much better today, I'm chalking it up to election angst.
I normally don't enter blog drawings, but that necklace gorgeous. And in my own quest for overcoming fashion inadequacy I'm trying to accessorize more.
