Good luck selena! I know you will get it figured out :) In a way, this post reminds me much of myself.

I am a scanner too. I wish I would focus and specialize but the idea of just choosing one interest makes me feel claustrophobic and I go running for another new, " sure to be the one" interest. I just ordered Barbara Sher's book, Refuse to Choose and have on hold at local used book store The Renaissance Soul by Margaret Lobenstine. I hope either one or both help me. I am 40 and would like to come to terms with this way of being. It can be really depressing! I think I will be posting on this soon on my blog. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Tonia

I just read your blog for the first time, and what can I say? You're in my brain! I've been struggling w/ this same question for years. I'm 40 (gulp)and have no clue what I want to do. I wish i could barter something in exchange for using your Finder Services. I would ask you to find me! And find my passion in life.

Selena,
Thanks for blogging about being a "scanner."
I got the book, Refuse to Choose, by Barbara Sher this weekend. I am so happy to have a name for what I am and to know that I am not alone! -tonia

I so understand what you are going through. I'm a scanner too. Like you I love books and would love to have a book shop. I still have notebooks full of ideas for businesses, including being a professional organiser too!

I get frustrated and angry with myself for not being able to focus my passion on one thing. I'm so into everything (but ironically not about what I'm doing for a living now), so I figure I'll take Barbara Sher's advice and do a bit of everything.

That way I reckon I should be able to make a living doing what I love every day. Even if I do love 10 things at once!
