Mid Century Modern Centaur Sagittarius
The Thrift Season seems to have officially arrived in Sonoma County. Our paper's ad section & Craigslist was full of estate sales, yard sales, garage sales and rummage sales. Did you get out this weekend?
Saturday morning Keiran and I were out the door early in search of a rummage sale. We arrived at the sale about 10 minutes later and discovered that it was much smaller than we had expected. We bought a few things and then headed back to my neighborhood where we should have stayed in to begin with.
It was two blocks from my house that I found this Plaster wall art.
So far I can't find anything about this Centaur Sagittarius (thanks Alice). I bought it at a home that was a time capsule from the 1960's. The art, furniture, decor and very large hi-fi came straight from the 60's decade. The eye of the centaur is very much in the modern style of that time. This piece isn't signed and so far I haven't been able to find out much information on it. Have you seen something like this before?
Did you go thrifting this weekend?

Your centaur is such an interesting find - would be interested to hear more about him if you stumble across more info in your research. I've never seen anything quite like it!

Have you tried searching for Sagittarius instead of centaur? It looks like a zodiac sign to me.

Alice, thank you! I only focused on the horse/man aspect and even did a centaur - horn search but didn't get much. I'll begin again with astrology in mind and search for Sagittarius. Thanks!

Reminds me of Grover from Percy Jackson. SO not helpful :)

Wish I could help on the ID. It's a neat piece, but no ideas here.
Good luck!

The wall art is fantastic. I didn't get thrifting this weekend, but my mom made up for it with lots of vintage gifts!

Just when I thought there was nothing 'out there' this weekend I found a great sale that included the bench I posted about. Thanks for hosting.

Very interesting piece. I do agree that astrology was very hot in the 60s and 70s.
My interest in it drove my mother crazy. She equates it with devil worship.
One of my 2 favorite church sales is happening this Saturday and everyone I know is out of town. Guess I will have to think twice before buying anything too heavy.

Don't have a blog...but my big find from the past weekend was pure 1978 Sears Kitsch...
Nope, not Merry Mushroom...Neil the Frog.
As of 12:23 PM, with 7-9 hours to go, the 8 items I paid $20 for are selling on ebay for $240...can't wait for the ending tonight!
