It was totally strange today to return to our normal schedule. I dropped the children off at school and came home to a quiet and empty house. It was silent. There wasn't a single decibel of arguing, screaming or crying. It was nearly too blissful. I felt normal for the first time in a week an a half but I did get busy and started to work not wanting to waste a second of time. The children's school is having an auction this coming Saturday. One of the items I donated is a child's name banner. I completed an example today of Keiran's name. I purchased the retro cowboy fabric new and the rest are from that wonderful stash I bought in Sebastopol that I mention in every other post. I swear that stash is going to keep me busy for years. The ribbon is actually from the Vintage button swap that Stephanie sent me.

This one turned out much better than my Halloween banner. It is always a trial and error the first go around. I am going to be offering banners in my Etsy shop tomorrow. I would tonight but Etsy appears to be working on "technical difficulties". Apparently "Haims working on it" whoever that is.
Last week I received such a lovely parcel from the Shopping Sherpa in Australia. It came on one of my worst day and practically moved me to tears.
Anna-Maria, out of the goodness of her generous heart, sent me gluten free goodies that I had never seen before. She even sent me cookies. Cookies! Take note that half of them are missing and were eaten in secret, away from the children last week. I love the apron and can't wait to cook in it. You know someone is a very good friend when they not only send you an apron, but they send you gluten free food. Thank you so much Sherpa girl.
As some of you know, I have been collecting a few different dish patterns this last summer. I shouldn't confess few but you guys kind of know me by now right? Jonah remembered that I was collecting the Stetson Marcrest pattern and offered to send me a mug she found. I couldn't hardly turn her down could I? I look for this particular pattern everywhere I go. It's one of my top items I search for. (by the way, I've added the books some of you requested to my search list that I take with me thrifting)
It has been such a pleasure dining from this set. I found the original large-piece set at St. Vinnie's for $18.00. I'm missing quite a few pieces though including mugs. This was a wonderful addition to our set. Thank you so much for your gift Jonah.
After a week and a half, I entered the craft room for the first time. I had nearly forgotten what it looked like. When I sat down to finish the banner I felt a weight disappear from my shoulders. It was just a relief to be sewing again. I'm so embarrassed to say but I'm behind in everyone of my swaps. Remember my bragging post of "I've never been late on a swap". Well, that's gone completely out the window. But I'm working away at them one at a time. If you are waiting for something from me, it should arrive shortly. I think I'm in the height of my swap stress. Hopefully it will dissipate soon as I have a million gift to make for the holidays. Are you making any handmade gifts this season? I'm worried about how quickly Christmas is upon us but I do have some ideas for gifts I hope to churn out before then.
On an off-topic tv note....did anyone watch The Office last Thursday? It was the best episode so far in my opinion. I watched it by myself, but was laughing until tears were rolling down my cheeks. It was so funny, especially the first few minutes. There's nothing like tv to take your mind off of life, especially when it isn't going too well. I'm off to watch a tivoed (you can't exactly say taped any more can you?) episode of Veronica Mars which started a few minutes ago. Off to put on my wanna be sleuth cap.
